In recent years, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada have been working together with the Indigenous church leaders across Canada to make progress towards achieving a meaningful reconciliation.
On May 9, 2012 in Ottawa, ON, General Superintendent Dave Wells apologized on behalf of the PAOC and asked forgiveness of the PAOC Indigenous churches and their communities for the church’s insensitivity to their pain and suffering. The PAOC Indigenous leadership accepted the apology and extended forgiveness. The PAOC Indigenous leaders also apologized and asked forgiveness for attitudes, actions and words that contributed to disunity within the body of Christ.
It is our desire and prayer that each region of Canada will be reconcilers with the Indigenous churches and their communities.
